Break the Mold with a Fashion Forward Wedding Dress

Drew Tea Length Gown
One simple way to travel down a different path is to choose a shorter dress. Modern wedding dresses come in a variety of lengths, including cocktail and tea-length for the bride who doesn’t want a gown that sweeps the floor. The Drew is a gorgeous tea length dress, reminiscent of a vintage corset dress. This silk taffeta number is strapless with vertical waist defining seams and a draped bust. A tulle hem peeks out beneath the taffeta to add additional innocent elegance.
Mari Shantung Dress
Mari is a knee length silk Shantung dress with detailed braided straps, a flattering low V-shaped neckline and a flounce hem. The slimming gown is sweet and elegant from the front, but the back is really what will have your guests talking for days. A low back meets a large triple bustle detail in a show-stopping display.
Strapless Gowns
Everyone wears a strapless dress. How do you make it memorable or personable? It’s all in the small details, of course. A silk satin fit to flare gown becomes fashion forward via the seamed bodice with a triple bow detail which draws more attention to the figure flattering dropped and draped waist. Another strapless dress has a beaded bodice which traces both the neckline and the waistband, a tulle skirt with rosette accents overtop the ball gown skirt.
Sleeves
Sleeves are making a resurgence, now that celebrities have recently chosen them for their own nuptials. Lace sleeves of any length can typically be added on to any wedding dress by request, or you can choose to specifically shop for a dress that includes this option.
If you are looking for a slim silk charmeuse dress that feels vintage, Reverie is a great choice. Reverie seems inspired by and exudes the feeling of Old Hollywood. Drapery drips down from the beaded floral bodice, which extends to create floral sleeves. Another sophisticated style has a three quarter sleeve of hand appliquéd crystal studded Alencon lace, which continues to cascade across the neck before covering the low sweetheart neckline. A silk satin sash ties around the waist to accent your figure.
In some cases, lace boleros can look as if they’re part of the dress, but can be removed after the ceremony, which is especially helpful if it is required to have your shoulders covered during the ceremony. Sheer and shimmery bodysuits can also be worn under strapless dresses to give the illusion of a built in sheer neckline and cap sleeves. Similarly, a long lace shawl can be wrapped around your arms to resemble sleeves and then trail behind you like a train.
Off the Shoulder
Instead of choosing a gown with sleeves, an updated off the shoulder gown could be ideal. The off the shoulder dress crisscrosses from the bodice, with beaded trim tracing the empire bodice and the hipline. The waist dramatically drops beneath the hip line beading.
One shoulder dresses blend the positives of a dress with sleeves and a strapless gown. Solange is a ball gown with one strap across the left shoulder. The waistline of the dress is diagonally ruched, with clusters of beaded floral appliqués traveling down one side of the bodice, balancing out the one shoulder. The bottom of Solange falls in light and airy layers.
Another one shoulder ball gown chooses a more straightforward approach. The silk dress has one strap of lace accented by a silk satin flower. Traveling across the bodice of the dress is a focal point of crystal encrusted silk satin flowers and lace that meets the one lace strap. The bottom of the dress is simple elegance with a hand-pleated drop waist.
