what to wear to a September New England wedding?

I was asked to a wedding by my friend Brian. He is a groomsman in the wedding party. The groomsmen , best man, and groom will be wearing tuxedos, but I haven’t a clue what the bridesmaids/MOH are wearing. I asked Brian to ask the bride what exactly the bridesmaids will be wearing, but she is taking her sweet time getting back to me.

So far, all I know it is a Saturday wedding in September (in New England) and the male wedding party members will be in tuxes.

I’m trying to find a few dresses I can narrow it down to, so any suggestions for me?

Your attire really has zero to do with what the wedding party is wearing. Although you will be the date of a groomsman, you can be certain that you will not be required to be in the wedding photographs. Therefore your choice of clothing has no bearing on what the bride has chooses for her bridal party to wear.

Play it safe and wear something conservative and classy. My mother always told me it is womanly to show a little cleavage and a little leg, but NEVER both at the same time. That advise has never steered me in the wrong direction.

What to wear in New England in September??? I would not worry so much about the weather because all indoor events are temperature controlled. A little black dress that is not tooo little is a perfect choice. Plan on wearing very sheer black nylons which will look great if it is hot or chilly outside. And, a pearl necklace screams sophistication.
